United States The problem with item 1 is that it can take a longer than 5 years to get the patent approved. Items 2 and 3 are great ideas! Number 4 seems too generic and needs refinement. Item 7 will only allow congress to drag their feet (which they will do on purpose to avoid responsibility on the issue) and make this process take forever. 2 years 1 month ago

United States Math and Computer Code are both just means to an end that use a structured dictionary and agreed-upon order of operations. It's not art, even if the end product is elegant and simple enough to pass as art. It's just making something efficient as possible. Being a logical, rational-thinker doesn't entitle you to protection just for being the first to arrange code that specific way to do a certain task. *** Someone using Legos to create a desk didn't invent a new type of desk worthy of copy protection, nor did they invent Legos. They simply USED an existing building method to make something they desired. Even if they had built something nobody has ever seen before, they used a process and method defined by Legos in order to achieve it, which one of 8 billion other people could just have figured out as well. *** Patenting a script that performs inside of specific constraints for a certain use is as if Pythagoras patented the Pythagorean Theorum and licensed its use to any mathematician, carpenter, and architect that needed to work with triangular shapes. 2 years 2 months ago

United States Both Copyright and Patent laws need to be changed to be brought into the modern world. At no time in history has innovation moved at such a rapid pace as it does today, and the current excessive amount of coverage that both Copyright and Patent laws provide will only end up putting a stranglehold on innovation and creativity in the public realm. 2 years 2 months ago
