United States Software patents are illegal under current law. However, since the CAFC and SCOTUS refuse to apply the law, the EFF proposals to defend innovation are an important first step. 4 years 1 month ago

United States I was one of the first professional programmers on earth at IBM. Software patents were not allowed when I was "inventing" and they should not be allowed now. Or, my earlier inventions should be sanctioned in which case Apple and Microsoft would be out of business ! Patents and Copyrights are the way BIG business KILLS the little guy because he can not afford to defend himself in Court. This is a travesty of justice all by itself. 4 years 1 month ago

United States I definitely agree something needs to be done. I would be fine with doing away with software patents all together. I code as a hobby and be live we would have better code and programs if people weren't scared of being sued by apple, microsoft or some company 100 times the size of them. 4 years 1 month ago

United States While I agree with most of the seven points, I'm on the fence about number three - I'd be hesitant to shell my code out to anyone, even the USPTO, especially if it was a proprietary invention. I understand the premise, but it still rubs me the wrong way. 4 years 1 month ago

United States You're absolutely right, and I had been hoping someone would see this and do something about it for a while now. It's not just a matter of software, however. The whole patent system is infected by the same problem. Try to create any kind of electronics and watch what happens if you're successful. It will kill the economy of the world, and I'm not exaggerating. 4 years 1 month ago
